Footage Captures Carson Hocevar’s Expletive-Laden Jab After Josh Berry’s Wreck Backfired Spectacularly at Sonoma

Tensions in the NASCAR Cup Series continued on Sunday, and yet again, it was Carson Hocevar who was in the middle of it. During the late stages of the Toyota/Save Mart 350 race at Sonoma Raceway, Josh Berry’s No. 21 Ford bumped Hocevar’s No. 77 Chevrolet, in a move that looked much like payback.

Berry’s move came with just three laps to go in the race. He bumped Hocevar’s rear bumper, sending the 22-year-old spinning out. While no caution was thrown, it was enough to ruin Hocevar’s day.

Carson Hocevar’s Season of Rivalries Continues in Sonoma

During a livestream session recently, Hocevar was asked about the incident. He did not hold back and admitted, “I don’t know. I didn’t do anything. I was just like ‘Man, of all people to wreck me.’ I thought it would be somebody like I had it coming. I don’t know what I did, it’s just like, ‘well s**t.’”

He eventually shrugged it off, saying, “But it’s just racing man, it’s just honestly racing. It is what it is.”

Hocevar’s aggressive driving style has been causing many problems with drivers on the grid all season. He’s had incidents with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in Nashville and Mexico City and even caused an early-race pileup in Chicago just a while back. His series of feuds seems to continue, which now involves Berry, too.

Berry is not someone who generally gets involved in any sort of drama. However, it seemed like he had also had enough of Hocevar’s antics. The bump didn’t end in a wreck for Berry, and he finished fifth. On the other hand, Hocevar finished 32nd and called the weekend “horrible.”

Social media went wild right after the video of the contact appeared online. NASCAR fans jumped in quickly, calling Berry’s move justified. Others laughed at how Hocevar got “a taste of his own medicine.” NASCAR didn’t penalize anyone, and fans appeared satisfied with what had happened on track.

This rivalry may not be over just yet. Hocevar added another name to his list of ever-growing sports rivals. And with Dover coming up next, fans will keep a close eye on the 21 and 77 cars.

With this feud, Berry and Hocevar have added a new chapter to the 2025 Cup Series season.
