23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace had a tough weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway during the recently concluded Food City 500 after getting stuck in traffic for most of the race. As a result, Wallace’s streak of strong top-10 finishes in the NASCAR Cup Series came to an end with a disappointing P19 finish. With that disappointing result, the Toyota driver earned only 18 points on the day.
Bubba Wallace’s Wife and Son Revive His Spirits
Despite a rough day on the track, Wallace found comfort in his family. He took to the social media platform X to share a heartwarming moment with his wife Amanda and young son Becks on the way to the airport after the race.
Wallace wrote that the sweet moment helped him forget the struggles at Bristol and shift his focus to Talladega.
In the post on X, Wallace said, “Damn that was rough. Thought it was going alright and then just plateaued. Hearing my wife make Becks laugh on the way to plane. Made me realize, oh well move on. Nothing better than hearing that! See yall in dega, I’m out.”
While the Food City 500 may not have gone the way Wallace and his No. 23 Toyota team had hoped, his ability to find joy and comfort in family moments has helped him stay focused this season.
Wallace has often shared the support he’s received from his wife and their son — whether it’s after a tough race or even just through a quick call or text.
Has Becoming a Father Given Wallace an Added Edge?
Bubba and Amanda Wallace have known each other since high school and got together in 2015. Last September, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Becks Hayden Wallace.
Since becoming a father, fans have noticed a shift in Wallace’s mindset. The once hot-tempered driver seems calmer and more locked in on winning. He has also spoken about working on his mental well-being and personal growth.
So far in the 2025 season, Wallace has shown a resurgence in the NASCAR Cup Series, with numbers pointing to a career-best pace. Prior to the disappointing finish at Bristol, the No. 23 driver has put together several strong top-10 finishes, including a top-three outing at Martinsville, and started the year with a win in Duel 1 at Daytona.
Following the race at Bristol, Wallace currently sits eighth in points, just behind teammate Tyler Reddick. As he mentioned, Wallace will get his next opportunity at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday, April 27, in the Jack Link’s 500.
