‘He’s Always Watching’ – Bubba Wallace Opens Up About Michael Jordan’s Role at 23XI Racing

Michael Jordan is a name that needs no introduction in the sports world. The basketball legend is known for his fierce competitive spirit, and that same drive has carried over into NASCAR, where he co-owns 23XI Racing alongside Denny Hamlin.

While Jordan may not be at the track every weekend, team driver Bubba Wallace has made it clear –“He’s always watching.”

Michael Jordan’s Hands-On Approach to NASCAR

Jordan, widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all time, made waves in the motorsports world when he co-founded 23XI Racing with Denny Hamlin in 2020.

When he first announced his entry into NASCAR, many questioned how involved Jordan would actually be. After all, owning a race team is a big commitment, and with his many business ventures, some assumed he’d simply lend his name to the team without playing an active role. But according to Wallace, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

The 23XI Racing driver recently shared that despite Jordan’s busy schedule, he stays deeply connected to the team’s performance. Wallace revealed that he receives a text from Jordan almost every weekend — either before or after the race.

“One of the first texts I get every Sunday, whether pre-race or postrace, is from MJ, each and every weekend. He’s always watching, no matter where he’s at in the world, and I think that’s really cool,” Wallace said, emphasizing how special it feels to have direct communication with one of the most iconic athletes in history.

While Jordan may not be physically present at every race, he makes sure his presence is felt. Wallace described how the six-time NBA champion is constantly keeping an eye on the team, making sure everyone knows they are expected to perform at their best.

Keeping the Team and Bubba Wallace Motivated

For Wallace and the rest of the 23XI Racing team, Jordan’s commitment is a huge source of motivation. Knowing that someone of his stature is invested in their success adds an extra layer of determination.

“They know the commitment he has, and it’s really special to be a part of it,” Wallace said, acknowledging how important it is to have an owner who truly cares.

Jordan’s competitive nature has always been his trademark, and he expects the same winning mindset from his NASCAR team. Even when he’s not at the track, he’s analyzing race performances, checking in, and making sure his drivers and crew know that they have his full support.

As Wallace continues to fight for success in the NASCAR Cup Series, having an owner like Jordan in his corner could be the key to taking 23XI Racing to new heights. One thing is certain — whether it’s basketball or racing, Jordan doesn’t just show up to participate. He shows up to win.
