Alex Bowman is known for his easy attitude, but the usually calm driver at Kansas Speedway couldn’t hide his frustration. Bowman’s emotions were on full display despite finishing fifth in the race, leaving fans curious about what triggered his anger. After the race, Bowman didn’t hold back, opening up about the series of events that annoyed him.
Alex Bowman Reveals Reason Behind Emotional Outburst at Kansas
During his post-race interview with Bob Pockrass, Bowman explained that his day didn’t start well, and things only worsened. “I slept on my neck wrong last night, and I woke up and couldn’t stand up straight. It made me grumpy,” Bowman admitted, laughing off the initial cause of his frustration, but that was just the beginning.
Bowman’s irritation wasn’t just about a sore neck. It was about the race itself and the “dumb stuff” he saw happening on the track. Bowman felt like he was dealing with constant obstacles as the race unfolded, some of which were entirely out of his control.
“There’s a lot of dumb stuff going on… Just a lot of pressure to go run well and contend for wins,” he shared.

He explained that he and his team had a fast car, one of the best he’s ever had at Kansas. However, all that potential seemed to slip away due to factors beyond his control.
“We had a lot of really fast race cars that we haven’t been able to show because of things that have been outside of our control,” Bowman said.
Bowman Battles More Than Just the Field
Bowman’s bad day didn’t end there. He dealt with slower cars, some three laps down, causing chaos on the track. “When you get cars that are three laps down mirror-driving you three different ways on one straightaway, it’s like, what are we doing?” Bowman vented. He specifically mentioned getting frustrated with the No. 35 and No. 11 cars, which made his race even more complicated.
Bowman’s honesty sparked mixed reactions among fans. Some sympathized with his struggles, understanding how tough it can be for a driver to see their potential go to waste. “Mad he got put in the wall after putting @Erik_Jones in the wall,” someone commented, referencing Bowman’s aggressive racing style.
For Bowman, Kansas was a reminder of how fast a good day can turn frustrating in NASCAR. Even on a bad day, he secured a top-five finish, proving he can still deliver strong results under pressure.
