Typically, the NFL only has a Monday Night Football doubleheader in Week 1, but 2020 is a year of firsts. And on Monday Night Football in Week 5, we were due to have another week that featured two games on Monday night. What to expect from Chargers vs. Saints
Chargers rookie quarterback Justin Herbert’s quick start has been one of the most fun narratives to follow so far this season. His athleticism leaps off the screen, and one could easily argue that since entering the lineup, he’s been the best player on an offense that also features Keenan Allen and Austin Ekeler, although Ekeler will be inactive for this game.
As good as Herbert has been, it will be hard for him to go toe-to-toe with the Saints on Monday Night Football in Week 5, especially considering he won’t have Ekeler. When Ekeler went down against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Chargers offense went into the tank almost immediately and allowed the Buccaneers to come back.
Meanwhile, Drew Brees and the Saints appear to be finding their groove and will look to continue that on Monday Night Football in Week 5. The Saints’ offense hasn’t been the same this year, but they took advantage of a soft Detroit Lions defense in Week 4, which they hope will have kick-started their season.
Projected result: Saints win 30-17
