Everyone can sense that something is wrong in the Bronx. The New York Yankees have been shut out in three consecutive games for the first time since 2016, and they are now experiencing one of their worst offensive runs in recent memory.
They have gone an incredible 29 innings without scoring, and Tuesday night’s 4–0 loss to the Angels at Yankee Stadium was their fifth straight defeat. One fact, though, sticks out above all others as the club struggles: the Yankees struggle when Aaron Judge struggles.

Judge Struggling, Manager Remains Confident
There’s no coincidence here. Judge, the heart of the Yankees’ lineup and the reigning AL MVP, has looked human over the last five games, something this team isn’t built to withstand. During the skid, Judge is just 2-for-19, including two walks, chasing more pitches outside the zone, and struggling to find his usual rhythm. This season, it’s a rare stretch for the league’s most dominant hitter.
Manager Aaron Boone acknowledged the dip while remaining confident in his captain.
“It’s the inevitable, absent flows of it,” Boone said. “Left the zone a little more than he normally does. No one more capable of getting right back on track than him.”

Boone’s faith is unwavering, and for good reason.
Judge is having a season that would be astounding for most players, despite this current downturn. In addition to leading second in home runs (26) and tied for third in RBIs (60), he leads the majors with a .372 batting average and 1.209 OPS.
His performance in the first half of the season has been unprecedented, and he remains the favorite to earn MVP for the second time in a row. But the skid has been suffocating the team in New York, where standards are quite high.
And right now, the moment is pressing.
Yankees Offense Quiet, Looking To End Skid
The Yankees’ offense has ceased to exist altogether. More than just terrible luck, their previous five games show that they are a team looking for answers. The rest of the lineup also appears lost when their star isn’t hitting. The return of Giancarlo Stanton hasn’t helped; there have been no rallies, and silence at the bottom of the order.
The Yankees will need Judge to carry the team’s burden once more, as he has done. The goal is clear as they prepare for the last game of their three-game series against the Angels: end the bleeding, break the silence, and get their captain back in the victory column.
The Yankees still sit first in the AL East, but their lead is slipping fast. If Judge finds his swing again, the team will follow. If not, this cold stretch might become something much more damaging.
