The New York Yankees head to the West Coast tonight to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in a blockbuster showdown and rematch of the 2024 World Series. It’s shaping up to be an exciting series between two of the top teams in MLB.
The Yankees are missing a few key players for this highly anticipated matchup, but there’s a chance one of their stars could be ready to return.

Jazz Chisholm Rehab Update Headlines Injury Report As Yankees Visit Dodgers in World Series Rematch
The biggest name on the Yankees injury report is Jazz Chisholm Jr., who’s dealing with an oblique injury. There’s a chance Chisholm could return at some point during the series, but it’s more likely he wraps up his minor league rehab assignment first.
There have been reports that the Yankees plan to use Chisholm at third base, something we’ve already seen during his time in the minors:

The fact that the Yankees are already giving Chisholm reps at third base during rehab means that’s likely where he’ll play once he returns. As for this Dodgers series, the safer bet is that Chisholm won’t be activated in time.
Other injuries on offense include slugger Giancarlo Stanton, who’s been sidelined all season with an elbow injury. While he’s making progress, Stanton isn’t expected back before early June, so he’s out for this series.
On the pitching side, Luis Gil (lat) is getting closer to a return, though he’s expected back closer to the end of June. Marcus Stroman (knee) is a bit ahead of schedule and could return by mid-June. Of course, Gerrit Cole (Tommy John surgery) remains out for the season.
The bullpen is also without a key arm in Fernando Cruz (shoulder), but he could return early next week.
Overall, the Yankees are in decent shape health-wise, especially compared to the Dodgers, who are missing Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Roki Sasaki.
New York has a clear edge in the first two pitching matchups with Max Fried facing Tony Gonsolin and Will Warren going up against Landon Knack. But the Dodgers get the upper hand in the finale with Yoshinobu Yamamoto facing Ryan Yarbrough.
Expect a competitive series between two teams that might just meet again in the World Series.
