The New York Yankees went up against the Los Angeles Dodgers for the final meeting of their three-game set at Dodgers Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The hosts had already claimed the series after a blowout win over the visitors the previous day.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto started on the mound for the Dodgers, but the Yankees broke the deadlock early on with a two-out RBI from Jasson Dominguez. Tommy Edman leveled the scores with a solo home run off Ryan Yarbrough in the second inning.
Ben Rice put the Yankees back in front with Ben Rice smashing a two-run homer to center field in the top of the third. They added another run on a wild pitch by Yamamoto after the Dodgers pitcher allowed two more baserunners in the inning.
Yamamoto was forced into an early exit with just 3.2 innings after racking up 96 pitches, ensuring that it would be another long day of work for the Dodgers’ bullpen. Meanwhile, Yarborough completed four innings in under 60 pitches, giving up just two hits.

Yankees vs. Dodgers Game 3 Takeaway
The Yankees had to come up with a strong response after the humiliating defeat on Saturday. They will certainly be delighted with their performance, and were the better team today in every facet of the game.
The Dodgers, on the other hand, were well below par throughout the contest. The top four batters in their lineup could not muster a single hit among them. And it turned out to be another challenging day at the office for the pitching staff.
Both teams should be reasonably content with the outcome of the series. The Yankees are disappointed to have lost it but nevertheless glad they avoided the sweep and could return home with a win. The Dodgers would have settled for two wins out of three before the series started, and they still have a three-game lead in their division.
