The Toronto Blue Jays announced Wednesday afternoon that they have called up Triple-A Buffalo outfielder Will Robertson.
Ahead of Wednesday’s series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Jays had a roster hole to fill after placing outfielder Nathan Lukes on the seven-day injured list due to a concussion. For the first time in his career, Robertson has been added to the major league roster.
He’ll join teammates Davis Schneider and Alan Roden, both of whom have supported him along the way.

Will Robertson Jokes About Experience With Alan Roden
According to MLB.com, Robertson and Roden go way back — all the way to their time playing together at Creighton. Robertson was the player others looked up to, including Roden, who tried to model his swing after him when the Blue Jays drafted Robertson.
But Robertson didn’t exactly endorse the copycat approach.
“I told him that was a big mistake if you go back and watch any of my college swings,” Robertson said. “They’re far from ideal.”
Roden was recalled from Triple-A two weeks ago when the Blue Jays placed Anthony Santander on the 10-day injured list due to a shoulder issue.

Before being drafted by Toronto in the fourth round of the 2019 MLB Draft, Robertson starred at Creighton. Since then, he’s played in 491 minor league games, slashing .243 with 104 doubles, 273 RBIs, 77 home runs, and a .781 OPS.
This year with Buffalo, he’s been on a tear — hitting .288 with 12 home runs, eight doubles, 35 RBIs, and a .992 OPS through 52 games.
Just last week, Robertson made some eye-opening history in Triple-A. He became the first Buffalo Bison since 2014 to hit three home runs in a single game. That monster performance earned him International League Hitter of the Week honors.
Will Robertson gets the call!
Robertson has excelled at AAA this season while posting strong power metrics and a knack for pulling the ball. The hit tool isn’t as refined, but that power will play from the left side!

As for Lukes, the move was made retroactive to Tuesday. He was injured during the sixth inning of Sunday’s 6-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins after colliding with second baseman Ernie Clement.
The Jays say Lukes began experiencing concussion symptoms from that collision but are hopeful he won’t need more than a week to recover.
The 30-year-old last played on Monday, entering as a pinch hitter in the eighth and grounding into a double play. He later drew an intentional walk in the 10th inning of Toronto’s 5-4 win over the Cardinals. Lukes is batting .267 with four home runs and 21 RBIs across 49 games.
