As of Tuesday, the Boston Red Sox were on a six-game winning streak. That was due to some solid starting pitching. Red Sox starters had gone at least six innings during that time up until Tuesday’s 8-0 loss to the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
Boston starter Walker Buehler didn’t have a great outing, giving up eight earned runs in 3 1/3 innings of work. After the game, Buehler didn’t hold back when talking about his outing.

Walker Buehler Takes the Red Sox Loss Personal
“At the end of the day it sucks to fail on that kind of level with where our team’s at and how we’ve been feeling about ourselves and starting to play really good baseball,” Buehler, who signed a $21,050,00 free-agent contract with Boston. said, according to MassLive.com.
“To be an older guy that was brought in here to try and help lead and to perform the way I have been is tough and embarrassing.”

After getting some good counts on leading in counts, Buehler had trouble putting hitters away, according to manager Red Sox manager Alex Cora.
“He wasn’t able to finish hitters, I think eight at-bats we had him with two strikes and they got on base – walk, singles, double,” Cora said. “… We had two outs at one point, one pitch away from getting out from that inning and it just didn’t happen.”
Seattle starter Bryan Woo pitched seven scoreless innings, keeping Red Sox hitters in check. Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and six RBIs. Boston only managed two hits in getting shut out for the second time this season.
Buehler faced trouble in the first inning, but got out of it. In the second inning, though, the Mariners delivered. Buehler walked Ben Williamson, gave up an RBI double to Cole Young, and a single to Rowdy Tellez in the inning.
Red Sox catcher Carlos Narvaez tagged Williamson out at the plate for the second out of the inning after Ceddanne Rafaela and David Hamilton got the ball into him. Seattle went up 1-0 and almost scored again on that play.
Buehler, though, ended up walking Julio Rodriguez and J.P. Crawford to load the bases. Raleigh came up and slugged a grand slam, giving the Mariners a 5-0 lead.
Raleigh wasn’t finished. With two runners on and one out in the fourth, Raleigh drove Buehler’s fourth pitch of the at-bat past a diving Abraham Toro for a two-run double. Seattle added another run in the inning for a commanding 8-0 lead.
Meanwhile, Mariners starter Bryan Woo was in command against the Red Sox’s offense. In seven innings of work, Woo, a 25-year-old right-hander, allowed one hit and two walks, striking out six and left the game after throwing 86 pitches.
The Red Sox and Mariners will finish the three-game series in Seattle on Wednesday afternoon.
