Pitcher Trevor Bauer has not pitched at the MLB level since the 2021 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. On April 29, 2022, Rob Manfred, the Commissioner of Baseball, announced that Bauer would be suspended for 324 games, equivalent to two seasons, without pay for a violation of the league’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.
It was the longest non-lifetime suspension issued in MLB history. After his suspension was finished, many were wondering if he was ever going to sign with another MLB team. Instead, Bauer is currently pitching for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in Japan.
One of his most recent outings in Japan raised eyebrows worldwide.
Trevor Bauer Gets Rocked In Latest Japan Start
In his latest outing, Bauer pitched seven innings and gave up nine hits and four runs. He walked two and struck out two (both being the opposing starting pitcher). His team ended up losing by a score of 4-2.
Another horror-show outing for Trevor Bauer, who will almost certainly start the season 0-3
The self-proclaimed Sawamura candidate could only strike out the opposing pitcher, and even then one of those strikeouts was the result of a foul bunt.

Bauer is 0-3 with a 5.00 ERA to begin the 2025 season in Japan. With his slow start, many wonder if he will ever get back to MLB at some point. The 34-year-old’s chances of getting back into the MLB to pitch for another team may feel slim, especially with the way he has been pitching overseas.
However, some fans believe that his most recent outing was not terrible. They felt that going seven innings and only giving up four runs in only 96 pitches is not bad at all. This will not be the last time this year that Bauer’s name will be mentioned in America. The former Cy Young winner is certainly talented despite recent struggles and controversy. There will always be some people who want him to return to MLB.
With the loss, the BayStars dropped to 6-10 on the season. They faced the Hanshin Tigers, who improved to 10-8 on the season.
If Bauer wants to get back to the MLB, he is going to have to pitch better. Even if he were to pitch better, it is very possible that teams would not want to sign him and deal with the controversy and headache.
When he last pitched in 2021 with the Dodgers, Bauer appeared in 17 games and posted a record of 8-5 with a 2.59 ERA. In 107.2 innings pitched, he gave up 71 hits and 36 runs. Bauer also walked 37 batters and struck out 107 batters with a 1.00 WHIP.
Bauer also pitched for Yokohama during the 2023 season and earned a spot on the All-Star team. However, another All-Star appearance doesn’t seem likely if he continues to struggle.
