The Boston Red Sox have been quite the newsworthy team between their Netflix show and the great start they’ve had to the 2025 season.
After signing Alex Bregman to a substantial deal in the offseason, Bregman has delivered and lived up to the hype. The Red Sox may have found their guy, and Bregman is going to be a huge reason the team could make a deep run in October.

Alex Bregman Turning Out To Be an Instant Culture Changer
MLB Central is the premier show on the MLB Network, and their own Mark DeRosa spent the better part of five minutes breaking down Bregman’s tape.
The tape study was quick to mention an advanced stat – wRC+. In terms of weighted runs created, Bregman only trails Aaron Judge, Pete Alonso, and Fernando Tatis Jr.
In some elite company, DeRosa commented on Bregman’s unusual hot start, “He’s usually a slow starter, but he comes in like a house of fire and wins them over,” adding, “What I love about Alex is he was able to get comfortable super quick.”

Through a ten-game hitting streak, Bregman is hitting .400 with an OBP of .490, to which he’s added three home runs and eight RBIs. The 31-year-old spent 2016-24 with the Houston Astros before a change of scenery, one that benefited him greatly.
He’s had three straight seasons with 20+ home runs and 75+ RBIs, hitting consistently in the .260 range. With an OPS of .979 here in 2025, he’s on pace for his best season since 2019.
“What I love about Alex is his desire to get better,” DeRosa said. Bregman hit .286 and .296 in 2018 and 2019, with an OPS of .926 and 1.015, respectively. Crushing 31 homers in 2018 and then 41 in 2019, he had north of 100 RBIs in both of those seasons. Instead of being complacent and living off those two seasons, Bregman has constantly put in the work and is on pace for a career year in 2025.
DeRosa broke down Bregman’s batting stance, pointing out some key differences going as far back as 2017: “He has definitely closed his stance up in 2025.”
A graphic was then shown for the most closed stances in 2025, with Bregman only trailing his teammate, Kristian Campbell. DeRosa also spoke about his stance: “The guy with the closed stance always scared me because he was the guy that could use the entire field.”
Alex Bregman is doing exactly that. His spray chart shows most of his power going to the left side of the field, but the former Houston star has a ton of singles to the middle of the field and a pair of home runs to the opposite side.
DeRosa added, “He does things a little bit differently, but he is stacked into his back side and ready to go.”
