The Milwaukee Brewers are searching for a spark to jumpstart their season. At 35-32, the team is third in the National League Central and three games back in the National League Wild Card standings; what they need to go on a run may well be on its way, according to a new report.
The Brewers Plan to Call Up Their Top Pitching Prospect
Top MLB insider Jeff Passan reports that the Milwaukee Brewers are calling up top pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski. The team has a 3.87 ERA that rests solidly in the middle of baseball, but they could use reinforcements in their starting rotation.
The Brewers drafted Misiorowski in the second round of the 2022 MLB draft. He has dominated in Triple-A while pitching for the Nashville Sounds with a 2.13 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 63 innings. His arsenal excites scouts with a fastball that comfortably sits at 99 miles per hour but can reach 103, as well as an above-average curveball. He occasionally throws a slider and cutter as he continues building his arsenal to succeed as a starter at the major league level.
Jacob Misiorowski is getting the call to The Show!
He holds a 2.13 ERA through 63.1 IP at Triple-A with a 31.6% K% and 12.6% BB%, and has kept opponents to a ridiculous .175 BAA 🔍

The only real concern scouts have long-term about Misiorowski is if his command issues may eventually lead to him becoming a top bullpen weapon instead of a frontline starter. At 6’7″, Misiorowski’s height makes it hard to find an ideal comparison, but some scouts believe he has a similar profile to Philadelphia Phillies star Zack Wheeler for his ability to simply throw his fastball past hitters even when it’s placed in the heart of the strike zone.

Brewers staff ace Freddy Peralta has been a rock and appears headed to his second All-Star Game. Rookie Chad Patrick, whom the team acquired from the Athletics in 2023, has also been a revelation with a 2.84 ERA built on exceptional control. He’s considered a strong candidate to win the National League Rookie of the Year at this point. However, after those two guys, there has been a lot of uncertainty in the starting rotation.
Former All-Star Jose Quintana recently returned from the injured list after dealing with shoulder pain that caused him to miss nearly a month. He’s been excellent with a 2.66 ERA in eight starts, though some insiders believe the Brewers could sell high on Quintana at the trade deadline to make room for Misiorowski and some of their other young starters.

Two-time All-Star Brandon Woodruff hasn’t pitched since late 2023 after having shoulder surgery, but is almost ready to return, while another former All-Star, Nestor Cortes, has been sidelined for the last two months with a lot of strain. Tobias Myers was one of the Brewers’ best pitchers last season, but struggled to a 4.95 ERA to start the season and was demoted to Triple-A.
With all the instability in the Brewers’ rotation, the team is counting on Misiorowski to provide an immediate impact.
