The Los Angeles Dodgers are in desperate need of reinforcements with more than a dozen members of their pitching staff currently on the IL. Their starting rotation is in tatters, while their bullpen is already overtaxed due to its increased workload.
Therefore, the Dodgers will have to make a splash at the trade deadline to replenish their roster for the postseason. They may have to surrender a few pieces from their farm system in order to secure the acquisitions.

Bobby Miller Heading Towards Dodgers Exit
Bobby Miller was the No. 2 prospect of the franchise a mere two years ago. However, the 26-year-old right-hander does not have a place on the Dodgers roster despite their injury woes, suggesting that he may be on his way out of the club this year.
Miller enjoyed an impressive rookie campaign in 2023 with his blazing high-90s fastball, making 22 starts for the Dodgers and finishing with an 11-4 record with 2.0 bWAR. He pitched 124.1 innings that year and posted a 3.76 ERA and 119 strikeouts.
Unfortunately, his progress has stalled since then. He had an enormous 8.52 ERA over his 13 appearances in 2024 before getting optioned to the minor leagues. Miller was brought back into the team due to injuries but failed to make the postseason roster.
After getting hit by a line drive during spring training, Miller started the 2025 campaign with Triple-A Oklahoma City. He has made two appearances for the Dodgers since then, putting up a whopping 12.6 ERA over five innings pitched.
MLB insider Patrick McAvoy of The Sporting News believes the Dodgers are now ready to use the young pitcher as a bargaining chip at the trade deadline. He feels Miller will be an attractive option for several teams as he still holds enormous potential.
“If the Dodgers are going to make a move, Miller would be an intriguing candidate because there surely is a team out there that will bank on his upside and attempt to fix him rather than focusing on the ugly numbers from the last few years,” McAvoy wrote.
“He’s young and has upside. The Dodgers don’t have time to wait around, so maybe they could flip him in a package for a bullpen arm or a different starter to help in the short term,” he added.
Veteran sportswriter Howard Cole, on the other hand, offered a more damning view of the Dodgers pitcher. He termed Miller to be “a lost cause” as he mentioned the numbers from his latest outing in the minors.
Well, you can close the book on Bobby Miller. And throw it at him: 3 1/3 IP, 11 H, 10 ER, 3 BB, 1 K, 1 HR. No inherited runs scored. It’s official. He’s a lost cause. And it’s another glaring example of why hoarding prospects is no better than hoarding another thing. There’s…

He’s a lost cause,” he tweeted on Tuesday evening. “And it’s another glaring example of why hoarding prospects is no better than hoarding another thing. There’s gonna be some junk in there.”
A route back into the Dodgers roster looks unlikely for Miller, with a 5.69 ERA from 49.0 innings in 11 outings for Oklahoma City this year. A move away from the organization seems inevitable, and a change of scenery may actually prove beneficial in the long run.
