Max Muncy Makes Feelings Known About Buzz Around His Glasses Amid Dodgers Hot Streak

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Mets 6-5 on Tuesday night after Max Muncy hit two home runs, including the game-winning one to start the bottom of the ninth. Freddie Freeman then completed the feat with a walk-off double in the bottom of the 10th.

Apart from his hard work, there is one more thing playing in favor of Muncy, and that is his glasses.

Muncy acknowledges that wearing prescription glasses to address his right eye’s astigmatism during games is what led to his recent run of success at the plate, where he has rediscovered his power stroke.

Max Muncy Reluctant to Credit the Eyeglasses for His Recovery

According to Dodgers Nation on X, Muncy told interviewer Doug McKain regarding the reality of his new specs and whether or not they have contributed to his recent success with the Dodgers.

“I’m not ready to fully buy into that one just yet, but it’s hard to deny I’ve been playing better since I put the glasses on,” Muncy remarked.

Max Muncy, the seasoned slugger for the Dodgers, was having a really bad season before April 29. He was yet to hit his first home run. His career’s longest home run drought.

The end of Muncy’s eight-year Dodgers career had already been prophesied by MLB commentators from all over the internet. The 34-year-old former postseason hero appeared to be nearing the conclusion of a downhill trajectory. However, something important occurred on April 29th.

Muncy went into a game against the Marlins wearing prescription glasses to address his right eye’s astigmatism; as a consequence, he went 2-for-4 and hit his first home run of the year. Muncy hasn’t turned back since. Neither from homers nor from his glasses.

As per an article by The Athletic, Muncy gave them a try at home initially. He then wore the spectacles during groundballs and batting practice at Dodger Stadium for roughly a week. He saw that he was able to view signs across the ballpark with less strain.

His eyes were less tired from needing to focus to observe the spin, and he was able to take up the baseball more quickly. Last Wednesday, before a day game against the Miami Marlins at home, Muncy reached for his prescription sunglasses.

He ended a run of 106 plate appearances without a home run at the beginning of the season when he hit one in his first at-bat. The dugout exploded. When Muncy rounded the bases, he gazed up into the sky with relief.
