The New York Mets won the offseason by signing superstar outfielder Juan Soto to a 15-year contract worth $765 million.
Soto has gotten off to a bit of a shaky start, and some have wondered if he regrets choosing the Mets after spending one season with the New York Yankees.
However, it is still early on, and there have been some positive signs of Soto enjoying his time in Queens.
One of them was his newly-discovered ritual with his fellow outfielders.

Soto’s poor start has been a big topic of conversation, with some even questioning his effort in his first few months with the Mets.
But, it might not be the end of the world, and Will Sammon of The Athletic revealed Soto’s ritual that show good things in store with his teammates.
“Back in spring training, Soto whistled in the direction of Brandon Nimmo to get the veteran’s attention. Nimmo had made a beeline toward the Mets’ dugout after a half-inning on defense. When his eyes met Soto’s, Soto told him, per Nimmo’s recollection, ‘We’re staying here. We’re going to do something with all the outfielders here.'”
This isn’t something random for Soto, either. Sammon mentioned that Soto got the idea from Kyle Schwarber when they were on the Washington Nationals.
“I know we are a whole team, but as outfielders, we have a lot of responsibilities back there, so if we can stick together more and more, even when guys do make an error or something, just pick them up, have a talk before going in to hit. It’s huge for me. After Schwarber taught me that, I started doing it, and I feel like a lot of my teammates appreciate it,” Soto said.
Sure, it’s been a mixed bag for Soto, but he has provided the Mets with some highlights early on. Moreover, some deep digging shows that it is nothing but a slump for Soto.

So, take that as you will, but Soto’s ritual with his teammates is something worthwhile, especially with rumblings of him regretting the decision to sign with the Mets.
