Juan Soto Ready To ‘Have Fun’ After Turning June Into a Great Month for This Mets Hitter

There’s something about June and the summer – the sun, the sweat, the swing – that awakens the beast in Juan Soto. Maybe it’s the Dominican in him.

The New York Mets slugger might not have been himself, grinding his way through this spring. But now that it’s June, Soto isn’t just ready to have fun. He appears to be fully in his element now, ready to create more Mets history.

“I think it’s starting to happen, (the) swing, everything is going the right way,” Soto said after hitting two home runs in a Mets’ 7-3 win on Wednesday, June 25, against the Atlanta Braves. “Finally, the cold weather is gone, so I can have fun now.”

Juan Soto is Posting Historic Numbers in June

Soto has quietly – and now loudly – surged offensively into one of the hottest hitters in baseball this June. He has launched 10 homers this month alone. For comparison, he had a total of just nine combined in the first three months of this season.

The sudden summer barrage has turned 2025 into his best power start yet. Through 81 games, Soto has cranked 19 home runs, matching his previous best pace at the halfway mark from 2024. That’s also four more than his total at the same point in 2022.

After 23 games in June, Soto is hitting at a .325 average with 10 home runs, a .485 OBP, 1.238 OPS, and 18 RBIs. It appears that Soto and his swing seem to have finally found their rhythm this month – he is not just creating Mets history in June but also major-league history.

Soto Creates Mets History in June

In over 65 years since the Mets became an MLB team, only two Mets players have ever recorded more than 10 homers combined with more than 20 walks in a calendar month. Those two players are Soto in June 2025 and Darryl Strawberry back in May 1987.

Following his two-homer game against the Braves, Soto is also tops for most home runs among Mets hitters this season, going past Pete Alonso’s 18.

Soto Passes Jimmie Foxx With Most Multi-Homer Games Before 27

The Mets slugger, 26, helped to prevent a fourth straight series loss in the season.

With that, Soto recorded his 27th career multi-homer game, officially passing Hall of Famer Jimmie Foxx (26) for the most by any player before turning 27.

What’s Next for Soto and New York Mets?

It’s a promising sign for the Mets that Soto is starting to shed the weight of his record-breaking 15-year, $765 million contract. After early-season criticism following a slow start, Soto looks to have finally settled into his new home in Queens, New York.

The Mets are also getting hot at the right time. They are just a 1/2 game behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East Division with a 47-34 record and .580 win percentage, which is currently the sixth best in MLB.

Soto is projected to finish the season with 38 home runs and 90 RBIs, with his batting average and OPS steadily climbing as the summer rolls along.

With Francisco Lindor leading off, Soto batting second, and Alonso anchoring, the Mets have built a formidable top three hitters that could challenge any lineup in MLB. If Soto continues to keep his swinging momentum hot, then October baseball could become a reality for the Mets.
