Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor hit a walk-off sacrifice fly to right with the score tied 1-1 in the bottom of the ninth, plating outfielder Tyrone Taylor.
After losing two consecutive series to the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees, the New York Mets are back on track. They defeated the Chicago White Sox 2-1 on Monday to begin another three-game set, in addition to winning two of their three games against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Katia Lindor Shows How Proud She Is of Husband Francisco Lindor’s Feat
That walk-off put the star shortstop in some elite company. According to SNYTV, Lindor is the first Met since Wilmer Flores to have three or more walk-off RBIs in a single season. Lindor’s wife, Katia, also showed her appreciation for her husband by putting SNYTV’s post on her Instagram story.
After Juan Soto tied the score with a sacrifice fly in the eighth and Lindor walked it off with another sacrifice in the ninth with the bases loaded and no one out, the Mets finally made headway against the White Sox bullpen.
Even though the offense wasn’t exactly blowing the world away, they did what they had to against a much weaker club. Once again, the Mets’ pitching was excellent. Clay Holmes took the mound for the Mets, and he pitched zeroes until the fourth inning.
Tyrone Taylor misplayed a line drive to center field that Miguel Vargas followed with a walk to put runners on second and third with no outs. Mike Tauchman started off the session with a walk.
Chicago subsequently took a 1-0 lead thanks to a big fly ball to left field from Andrew Benintendi that scored Tauchman from third. However, if Vargas had also advanced to third on the play, Chicago might have scored even more.
He stayed at second instead, and on a rundown play, he attempted to get to third on a groundout to shortstop by Luis Robert Jr., but was tagged out. Holmes ended the day tossing 5.2 innings with one earned run, three walks, and three strikeouts after making a mistake that helped limit the damage. With Chicago off the board, the Mets won the game in the latter innings.
On January 7, 2021, Lindor and Carlos Carrasco were purchased by New York from the Cleveland Guardians (previously the Indians) in exchange for Amed Rosario, Andrés Giménez, Josh Wolf, and Isaiah Greene.
On March 31 of that year, the team then agreed to a 10-year, $341 million agreement with Lindor. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound player had his best season as a Met with 91 RBI and 33 home runs. In the NL East, New York presently trails the Philadelphia Phillies by 1.5 games for first place.
