The Boston Red Sox have traded Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for four ballplayers. This move makes room for up-and-coming stars and some of their top minor league prospects, like Kristian Campbell and Roman Anthony, to step up and showcase their skill sets for the team.
While Devers’ trade deal sent shockwaves through the MLB community, the Red Sox are attempting to build a more cohesive unit with the aim of increasing reliable depth in both departments of the game. On Monday, during the series opener between the Red Sox and the Seattle Mariners, RF Anthony finally had his first big major league moment.

Boston Red Sox Fans Sarcastically Lash Out After Roman Anthony Hits First Big League Homer
The official X.com page of the Red Sox shared the video of Anthony’s first big league home run from the series opener against the Mariners at T-Mobile Park on Monday. Irate fans, who were still reeling from the earth-shattering trade deal announcement of Devers, took some sarcastic shots at the front office executives, asking when they would trade Anthony.

“When are we trading him?” commented one fan. “6 years and 200 more of these, and you can trade him for a middle reliever and a bag of peanuts,” commented another, while one user wrote, “3 more years until we trade him for a couple Taco Bell coupons! Enjoy it while we still can!”
While most fans lashed out at the front office staff, some voiced their praise for the talent and skill set possessed by Anthony. One fan emphasized, “Imagine leaving this guy out of the lineup for someone who doesn’t want to be on the team,” as another commented, “Think this is the first time I smiled in the last 30 hours.”
“Just put that to row 50 in Yankee Stadium,” another comment read. Anthony was selected as the 79th overall pick in the 2022 MLB draft and was given a $2.5 million signing bonus. The 21-year-old talented outfielder quickly rose up the ranks and was finally given his big league moment with a promotion to the 40-man roster in June.
Red Sox Back to Winning Ways
The Red Sox started the season on a high but then hit a slump for more than a month as they kept losing their valuable ballplayers to various injuries. Now, they seem to be back on track with a 38-36 overall record and a .514 winning percentage.
The Red Sox are currently on a six-game winning streak and are 8-2 in the last ten regular-season games. They have won three back-to-back series and will attempt to extend that streak to four as they complete the three-game series against the Mariners on Wednesday.
