‘A Smaller Version of Giancarlo Stanton’—Fans React to Jazz Chisholm’s Back-to-Back Early Exits

Jazz Chisholm Jr. has made a sizeable impact for the New York Yankees since getting traded from the Miami Marlins at the deadline last year. His arrival sparked the Yankees into a strong run down the stretch, which culminated with the American League pennant.

The 27-year-old from the Bahamas is now an indispensable component of the team with his athleticism and defensive versatility. Moreover, he seems to be thriving offensively in the left-hander-friendly dimensions of Yankee Stadium.

Fans Respond to Early Exits From the Field For Jazz Chisholm Jr. in Successive Games

Chisholm Jr. had a few injury issues during his time with the Marlins, although he did not encounter anything serious with the Yankees last year. However, he missed the entire month of May after getting sidelined on the IL due to an oblique strain.

Following a short rehab stint in the minors, Chisholm Jr. returned to the Yankees lineup in early June. However, it has not all been plain sailing despite getting on a hot run since returning from injury.

On Wednesday night, Chisholm Jr. made an early exit in the 6-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium due to left groin tightness. Oswald Peraza came in as a defensive replacement for him in the top of the sixth inning.

The Yankees’ third baseman was unavailable to comment on the matter after the game, as he was still in the treatment room. However, manager Aaron Boone confirmed the issue is a minor one, with the medical tests yielding positive results thus far.

“I think he’s okay. He felt something in his groin,” Boone told reporters in his post-game press conference. “Tests and everything, stretching and strength, all that came out good. We’ll see what we have tomorrow.”

It was the second straight game that Chisholm Jr. made an early exit. Peraza had replaced him in the seventh inning of the 10-2 win over the Royals the previous night after he experienced neck tightness after stealing third base in the previous inning.

On the other hand, MLB fans compared the Yankees infielder to his teammate Giancarlo Stanton with their comments on social media. The veteran slugger has a very long injury record and started the season on the 60-day IL due to epicondylitis in both his elbows.

“A smaller version of Giancarlo,” tweeted one fan.

“Bros made with paper skin and glass bones,” wrote another fan. “Injury prone a– player, and everyone knew this when we traded for him,” posted a Yankee fan.

Chisholm Jr. had earned his lone All-Star Game selection in 2022 but was not able to take part in the showpiece event due to a back injury. He went on to miss the remainder of the season after landing on the IL again in late July.

The Marlins had moved the Bahamian to center field in 2023, and he ended up having two fairly long stints on the IL, which saw him miss more than 60 games that year. He also underwent right toe surgery at the end of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Chisholm Jr. has a .214/.323/.450 slash line from 38 games in 2025 with nine home runs, 24 RBIs, and an OPS+ of 114. He has batted 9-26 in the eight games since coming back from injury on June 3rd, holding an OPS of 1.015 for the month.
