‘Just Retire’ – Fans Call Out Kris Bryant After Another Injury Setback in His Underwhelming Rockies Run

Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant has not lived up to his contract with the team. He is currently in his fourth season with the Rockies and has dealt with frequent injuries.

The 33-year-old outfielder hasn’t been the same since he was traded from the Chicago Cubs to the San Francisco Giants during the 2021 MLB season. Yet, Bryant still has three years remaining on his contract after the 2025 season. With him now back on the injured list, what are Rockies fans saying about it?

Rockies Fans React to Kris Bryant Back on Injured List

According to Thomas Harding of MLB, the Rockies outfielder is headed to the 10-day injured list with lumbar degenerative disc disease. This condition involves the breakdown of discs between the vertebrae in the lower back. It’s a natural aging process that can cause pain, stiffness, and other symptoms.

Mike Rodriguez, an MLB insider, also reported, “At the start of his fourth year in a seven-year, $182 million contract, he has only played in 170 games. In more than three seasons, he has hit 17 home runs and maintains a batting average of .244, while his salary is $26 million per season.”

To start the 2025 MLB season, Bryant has played in 11 games for the Rockies. He’s hitting .154 with zero home runs or stolen bases, one RBI, and a .195 on-base percentage. With how things have gone in Colorado, some fans believe Bryant should consider retirement.

One fan said, “Just retire man.”

Another Rockies fan said, “How downfall should be studied.”

Someone else added, “Just retire bud.”

Another MLB fan said, “Yikes … Total bust since his MVP season and I don’t say that with pleasure …”

Another Rockies fan added, “I LOVE KB. Love him. But at this point it’s not fair to the poor Rockies. They didn’t sign up for this. It’s turning into a Rendon situation.”

Bryant was excellent during his time with the Cubs from 2015 to 2021, but he hasn’t looked the same since being traded from Chicago to San Francisco — after which he signed with Colorado. In fact, it’s been surprising to see how poorly things have gone in Colorado after his successful run with the Cubs.

Would Bryant consider retiring after the 2025 season, even with three years left on his deal? That remains to be seen as the 33-year-old outfielder works through another setback. Nevertheless, the contract clearly hasn’t worked out for the Rockies.

In reference to that last fan, Anthony Rendon signed a seven-year, $245 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels after the 2019 season, the year he won the World Series with the Washington Nationals. Fast forward to present day, if Rendon doesn’t appear in a single game for the Angels in 2025, he will have played in just 25.3% of games over the past six seasons.

Bryant’s injury situation in Colorado is starting to look quite similar to what the Angels have faced with Rendon.
