The 2025 MLB Draft is quickly approaching, with the first round set for July 13 in Atlanta. All 30 teams are evaluating prospects to address their organizational needs, sparking countless mock drafts from baseball experts.
At the center of draft speculation stands Ethan Holliday, the Oklahoma prep star whose name dominates every projection as part of MLB’s All-Star Week festivities.

Ethan Holliday Falls to No. 4 in Mock Drafts
Originally considered the top prospect in the class, Holliday comes from baseball royalty. His older brother Jackson serves as the Baltimore Orioles’ second baseman after going No. 1 overall in the 2022 Draft, while their father is seven-time All-Star Matt Holliday.

Oklahoma’s Gatorade Player of the Year stands 6-foot-4 and offers left-handed power potential. However, the shortstop and third baseman has slipped from original mock drafts projecting him at No. 1.
ESPN reported Monday that the prospect could instead go No. 4 to the Colorado Rockies. While Matt spent his first six seasons with Colorado, the connection extends beyond family ties.
Scouting Report and Projections
The younger member of the family possesses an imposing frame, weighing 210 pounds to complement his 6-foot-4 height. Scouts have graded his power at 65 on the 20-80 scale, with grades of 50 for hitting and running, plus 55 for his arm strength, culminating in an overall grade of 60 that places him among the class elite.
According to MLB.com, the prospect moves well for his size and maintains average speed, though he may lose a step as he continues developing physically. Additionally, the Oklahoma State recruit projects better as a slugging third baseman and could provide quality defense at the hot corner.
The father-son duo recently attended Saturday’s game between the Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Angels, franchises holding the No. 1 and No. 2 picks, respectively.
I don’t know if I buy these Ethan Holliday stats.
I have spent hours trying to dig up his stats for this year. I have stalked way to many people than I’d like to admit.

Only time will reveal where the top prospect lands, but any MLB franchise fortunate enough to select him will gain a player with exceptional bloodlines and considerable upside.
