No Update Yet About LA Dodgers’ Infielder Miguel Rojas’ Injury

In the seventh inning of the Dodgers’ 5-1 win over the Kansas City Royals. Rojas, who had gone 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI single, was injured but stayed in briefly after the play and was replaced by Hyeseong Kim in the eighth. Manager Dave Roberts gave updates on the injury and said, “Tests are coming tomorrow on Miguel Rojas’s hands.”

The injury casts a shadow over a game where Kiké Hernández and Will Smith hit home runs, and Justin Wrobleski pitched six strong innings. The victory marked the Dodgers’ sixth win in seven games.

Footage of Rojas’ slide showed him reaching for the bag as Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr. applied the tag. Hyeseong, meanwhile, stepped in seamlessly at second base, but the loss of Rojas could test the team’s depth. Watch the incident here:

Rojas’s injury adds to the Dodgers’ growing list of concerns. The team has won six straight series, witnessing impressive performances from players like Hernández and Smith. Yet, the infield’s stability hinges on players like Rojas, whose leadership and bat have been key. His early exit Sunday came after a standout performance, further showing how valuable he is to the team.

The Korean, a capable replacement, will face increased pressure as the Dodgers prepare for a six-game homestand starting Tuesday against the White Sox. The Royals, meanwhile, struggled, dropping their seventh game in their last eight. Witt Jr.’s lone double couldn’t offset their 1-for-5 showing with runners in scoring position.

The game on Sunday also marked the annual effort in which the Royals honor the Negro Leagues. Both teams wore special historic hats to commemorate this occasion.

At the time of writing, the Dodgers are waiting for the X-ray results. Roberts’ cautious tone could indicate that the team is bracing for the worst. If Rojas is sidelined, Hyeseong’s readiness will be crucial for the season.

The Dodgers’ next challenge comes as Yoshinobu Yamamoto (7-6, 2.61 ERA) and the team prepare to face the White Sox, but the focus remains on Rojas. While fans hope for a quick recovery, the team seems to be playing the waiting game as they await testing and reports.
