Dodgers Injury Report vs. Yankees

The Dodgers have several key injuries heading into the Yankee series. Snell and Glasnow are each nursing shoulder injuries, which will keep them out at least until June.

The good news for Snell is that he’s been in a throwing program since May 15th:

Glasnow is making progress as well:

As for Sasaki, his timetable is a bit later, with a projected return date around early July.

Each of these starters will be unavailable for the Yankees series. Instead, the Dodgers are scheduled to roll with Tony Gonsolin, Landon Knack, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

This gives the Yankees an advantage on the mound — at least for the first two games, where they’ll send out AL Cy Young candidate Max Fried vs. Gonsolin and emerging breakout Will Warren against Knack. The third matchup will be Ryan Yarbrough vs. Yamamoto, giving the edge to the Dodgers.

The good news for the Dodgers is that they’re expected to get some help in their bullpen. Flame-throwing righty Michael Kopech has been dominant in his minor league rehab assignments. There’s a good chance that he’ll return for this series.

That’s big for the Dodgers because they just lost Kirby Yates (hamstring) a couple of weeks ago, and he’s expected to come back on June 2nd.

It’s also worth noting that Tanner Scott has struggled lately, so getting a high-leverage arm like Kopech is helpful. Not to mention that the Dodgers just traded for a former closer in the Cincinnati Reds’ right-hander Alexis Diaz. Evan Phillips is on his way back shortly, too, although not in time for the Yankees series.

Expect this revamped Dodgers bullpen to help make up for their injury-riddled rotation in this series against the Yankees.

As for the Dodgers’ offense, it’s fully healthy, featuring the usual studs like Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman, backed by other key pieces like Will Smith and Teoscar Hernandez, along with early-season breakout Andy Pages.

Needless to say, it’s shaping up to be an interesting series.
