The Arizona Diamondbacks made a tough decision when they banned one of their season ticket holders from attending any games for the rest of the year. This fan interfered with a home run ball, leaving the players stunned at his interference. Now, he was given a platform to discuss his past ejections and what went down when he received the ban.

D-Backs Season Ticket Holder Puts His Fandom Above Everything Else
Megan Plain, a member of FOX 10 Phoenix, posted a video of the D-Backs fan who was ejected, which was not the first time he’s been removed from a D-Backs game. For a team that sits 10.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West, it’s hard to say that their playoff aspirations are already over. With so much baseball yet to be played, any little instance like this could come back to haunt them at the end of the year.

“I’m a D-Backs fan, I would never want to do anything to hurt the D-Backs or to have them lose the game,” the fan said. “I have been ejected three times; however, last night you see my glove hit the yellow, so I think the ball would have bounced on top and gone over.”
He recalled one of his past ejections: “A couple of years ago, Joey Bart hit one in the same exact spot. When the security guards came and got me, the chief security guard said, ‘Hey, that was so close, we’re not going to throw you out, we’re just going to move you to another seat.’ So technically, I’ve only been ejected twice.”
Regardless, countless MLB fans have attended games and have never been ejected. Ejections only occur when necessary, which is the case when a fan directly interferes with the game. For this fan to have done so on multiple occasions gives the team enough reason to make the decision that they did.
Catching a home run ball is one of the great things in baseball, but it comes with the basic understanding that one will do so without impacting the players on the field. Let’s hope these instances stay at a minimum.
