The MLB trade deadline season is here, which means rumors galore.
The Toronto Blue Jays are one team in a very interesting situation, sporting a 39-33 record entering June 18. They are in third place in the American League East, and since they are still very much alive in the playoff picture, perhaps going all-in is the way to go.
The front office and manager John Schneider are in the hot seat right now, especially after signing Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to a massive deal and fans wanting a winning team that plays in October.
One player worth keeping tabs on is Bo Bichette, who is also eyeing another contract.
But, there is a scenario where the Blue Jays don’t move Bichette and instead retain him in an aggressive push.

Blue Jays Could Keep Bo Bichette Amid a Playoff Push
Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report made some predictions, and one of them was that the Blue Jays would not trade Bichette at the deadline.
“If you’re a team in need of a major offensive upgrade in the infield and hoping the Toronto Blue Jays will decide to trade Bo Bichette, don’t hold your breath. Even though their run differential is hovering around neutral, the Blue Jays are well above .500 in an AL East that’s not nearly as deep as expected,” Kelly wrote.
Why would Toronto hold? Well, Kelly elaborated on that as well:
“President Mark Shapiro, general manager Ross Atkins and manager John Schneider are probably all on the hot seat too, so they aren’t going to be inclined to sell current talent off for future pieces they may not be around to reap the rewards from. Unless there’s a huge swoon in the coming weeks, the Blue Jays will almost certainly hold onto Bichette and Chris Bassitt, two players in contract years. Not only will Toronto hope Anthony Santander, Jeff Hoffman and Bowden Francis turn around disappointing seasons, but it will also likely make some additions to try to sneak into the playoffs as an AL wild-card representative, if not the AL East champions.”
Bichette is a free agent after the season, but he has expressed a desire to remain in Toronto for his entire career.
”[It] has been my goal since I was a kid. To be with one organization my whole career and building a winning culture with Vladdy, but nothing is on the table right now,” Bichette said at the start of June.
On the year, Bichette is hitting .270 with nine home runs and 42 RBI, including a huge home run on June 17 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Bichette would be happy to make a playoff run in Toronto, but the Blue Jays do risk losing him for nothing if they hold him at the deadline.
