Minnesota Timberwolves co-owner Alex Rodriguez had an eventful maiden NBA draft experience alongside the members of the owning group, front office executives, and the coaching staff on Wednesday. Two more friendly faces at the meeting facility brought the biggest cheers to the former New York Yankees’ 3B’s face.
Rodriguez’s daughters, Natasha and Ella, have joined him in sharing the NBA draft experience. The Timberwolves selected 18-year-old French player Joan Beringer as the 17th overall pick in the first round. Beringer will move to the NBA from Cedevita Olimpija, a Slovenian basketball club.

On Thursday, Rodriguez shared some delightful snaps on his Instagram story highlighting adorable moments shared with his daughters during the 2025 NBA draft day. In the images, A-Rod and his daughters can be seen shooting hoops at the front office facility and, in others, watching Round 1 of the NBA draft on the television screen. He captioned one of the images as, “Love having my girls share this experience with me.”

Rodriguez also shared an Instagram post that encapsulated all the delightful highlights from draft day. The caption read, “An unforgettable night. Our first NBA Draft as owners of the @timberwolves. It is an honor we don’t take lightly. Grateful to walk this journey with an incredible front office and passionate fanbase. Welcome to the team, @joanbrg1. The future is bright in Minnesota. Let’s build something special.”

The Timberwolves made another pick in the NBA draft on Thursday. They chose Rasheer Fleming from the St. Joseph’s Hawks as the 31st overall pick in the second round. Fleming was traded to the Phoenix Suns per a pre-negotiated past deal between the two teams. The Wolves, who came very close to sealing an NBA Finals berth in back-to-back seasons, will aim to continue on their success trajectory and maybe claim that elusive silverware soon.
New York Yankees Icon Voiced His Positive Aspirations for the City of Minnesota
On Wednesday, Rodriguez shared multiple Instagram posts highlighting the happiness that came with being the new owner of a rising NBA team. He gave an interview alongside business partner Marc Lore and claimed to bring back the winning culture in Minnesota. He said, “I know what it takes to be a champion, and I’m ready to bring that same commitment and drive to create a winning culture in Minnesota.”
Furthermore, he praised the loyal fan base, saying, “One of the things that Marc and I talked about is our fan base and how incredibly passionate they are. Knowledgeable, engaged, and how much winning means to them. And I love that their expectations for us are really, really high, and we just want to keep building on that and take it to the next level.”
It will be interesting to see how the positive aspirations of the new ownership affect the fortunes of the Wolves squad in the coming seasons.
