New York Yankees superstar slugger Aaron Judge is in the middle of another historic season, hitting .387 with 21 home runs in just 59 games. The two-time American League Most Valuable Player looks like he’s on track to win the award again.
But being one of the best players in baseball comes with its challenges. Judge recently shared why he’s forced to stay in hotel rooms on Yankees road trips.

Judge Stays Focused on Baseball at All Times
Judge has been praised for his value both on and off the field. His focus and work ethic are a big reason the Yankees are once again among baseball’s best. As outlined by USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, Judge rarely leaves the team hotel on road trips.
Standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing 282 pounds, Judge knows he stands out. “I think if I was a little shorter, if you just give me 6-foot-1, 6-2, I could blend in a little bit,” he said. But being one of the biggest stars in baseball — physically and statistically — makes it hard for him to go unnoticed in public.

“That’s why I don’t leave the hotel for the most part,” Judge added. “I’ve got a job to do on the road. I try not to explore too much. I can do that when I retire and check out these cities.”
It’s a simple but telling answer. Judge is locked in. Baseball is his only focus during the grind of a long season.
Aaron Judge Is a Humble Superstar
Even though he’s the face of the Yankees and one of the most recognizable athletes in the league, Judge remains humble.
Outfielder Trent Grisham said Judge “is more valuable in how he runs the clubhouse” than even his production on the field. He’s the one answering media questions and making sure everyone in the locker room feels at home.
First baseman Paul Goldschmidt, who joined the Yankees this season, praised the captain’s leadership. “He makes it great to be a Yankee,” Goldschmidt said.
Judge has embraced the captain role and everything that comes with it. He’s more than just a power hitter. He’s become the heartbeat of a Yankees team with championship hopes.
If that kind of leadership and play continues, don’t be surprised if we see the Yankees back in the World Series this season. This time, Judge might just bring the title back to New York.
