New York Yankees skipper Aaron Boone wanted his players to be unfazed by their recent losing slump. The incumbent AL pennant holders went from bad to worse on Thursday when they were swept in the four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Bronx Bombers have their task cut out as they have yet another competitive series to play against their Subway rivals, the New York Mets. The series opener will be played in Citi Field on Friday night. It can all go downhill for the Yankees, or they can finally see this feisty series as an opportunity to bounce back from their disappointing slump.

New York Yankees Manager Aaron Boone Provides Words of Motivation for His Unit
After the disappointing series sweep in Toronto, Boone spoke to his players in the visiting clubhouse, provided words of defiance, and attempted to instill confidence in the players’ minds as MLB Insider Bryan Hoch reported the words from Jazz Chisholm Jr. who summarized the closed door remarks given by the skipper after the series finale.
Chisholm said Boone reminded the squad they were “the best team in the league.” Furthermore, Boone said, “We knew we were going to hit a speed bump. Just block out the noise and go out there when we get back home in New York [on Friday], and just do what we do.”

Furthermore, Boone wanted his players to remain unfazed by the recent losses, saying, “I don’t want us to flinch. I want us to come here, ready to prepare. Prepare, compete, win. We’re preparing to go out there and compete our [tails] off, and I know that if we do that well enough over time, we’ll win.”
He added, “So trust me, when you’re living this life – whether it’s [as a] manager, coaches, staff, certainly players – it’s hard. It’s not fun. We work really hard every day and all season long. It’s about shaking hands at the end of the day.”
Yankees Captain Aaron Judge Also Professed Clamness
Yankees captain Aaron Judge also urged calmness in the players’ minds and the dugout as he said, “You can’t panic. It’s not going to help the situation. We’ve got work to do. … We came up here [to Toronto], things didn’t go our way. We’ve got to focus on a big series coming up with the Mets. All we can do is just keep focusing on the present and the game that we’ve got in front of us.”
The Yankees led by over seven games until the end of May and sat comfortably atop the AL East standings. Now, they have hit a severe slump. They are 6-14 in the last 20 games and have also lost the top spot to the Blue Jays, who hold a 49-38 record.
The Bombers are tied in second with the Tampa Bay Rays, with a 48-39 overall record.
