Michael Penix Jr. Impresses at NFL Combine, Climbing Up Minnesota Vikings’ Fans Draft Boards

The NFL Combine has opened its doors over the past two years, allowing fans an up-close-and-personal look at some of their favorite prospects. In doing so, these fans can really solidify their beliefs on the preferred players they want their favorite NFL franchise to take in the upcoming NFL Draft.

For Minnesota Vikings fans, you can bet they’ll be eyeing Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. during Combine week after they’ve shown their penchant for drafting Penix over the past month.

Michael Penix Jr.’s Draft Stock Soars in Minnesota

It should be known that fans of the Vikings are torn about what to do at the top of their 2024 NFL Draft class. Among teams drafting in the first round, the Vikings fans are wary of what to do and are selecting defensive tackles, quarterbacks, and cornerbacks almost equally with their first-round picks.

That is, of course, if they can’t grab a quarterback they like at pick No. 11. As much as Penix has done during his career at Indiana and Washington, it appeared he had a bit more to prove with his arm talent to mock drafters.

With his performance at the 2024 NFL Combine at the ready, Vikings fans have grown more optimistic about the chance of him joining their franchise.

Minnesota fans are selecting Penix more in the lead-up to the NFL Combine than they ever had before. However, Penix’s draft stock soaring in Minnesota may be a combination of multiple factors.

Using the data from the Pro Football Network Mock Draft Simulator, it’s evident that the Vikings fans understand they may miss on the top four quarterbacks of the draft with recent revelations that J.J. McCarthy and Jayden Daniels could very well be gone within the top 10 picks of the draft. That would follow Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, the presumptive top two overall selections.

With the Vikings not selecting until pick No. 11, it may be until the top of the second round that Minnesota fans grab their preferred signal-caller. Understanding that, it makes sense why Vikings fans would want to get as close to Penix as possible during the 2024 NFL Combine.
