Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward has wasted no time in making a statement off the field ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. Just days after signing a landmark apparel deal with Under Armour, Ward appears in his first commercial for the brand — a powerful message aimed squarely at those who doubted him.
Cam Ward Hits Back at Critics in Debut Under Armour Ad After Landmark Deal
The commercial showcases Ward’s journey, marked by perseverance, grit, and a relentless drive to prove the naysayers wrong.
“They didn’t count me at all. But every time you forget, I’m going to remind you,” Ward declares in the ad. “You can either be the one who fits in… or you can choose to be a problem for everyone who doubts you. I took my moment, and I made something of it. Now everybody got to witness.”
Ward’s partnership with Under Armour places him at the forefront of a promising group of incoming NFL talent. He leads a high-profile draft class featuring standout prospects such as wide receiver Luther Burden III from Missouri, Texas wideout Matthew Golden, South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori, and Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Booker, all projected first-round selections.
For Under Armour, Ward’s projected No. 1 selection is a major benchmark — the company’s first potential top overall NFL Draft pick since Cam Newton in 2011.
Reflecting on the brand’s heritage and ambitions, Sean Eggert, senior vice president of global sports marketing, stated, “Football is where Under Armour began; it’s in our DNA. Signing this class of elite players is more than a milestone; it’s a statement of who we are and where we’re going.”
Ward, a West Texas native, transferred to the University of Miami after two seasons at Washington State and delivered a historic senior campaign. He set new school records by throwing for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns during the 2024 season. He surpassed Miami legends like Bernie Kosar and Steve Walsh, also breaking records for completions (305) and completion percentage (67.2%).
The 6-foot-2, 223-pound quarterback also became the first Hurricane to post seven consecutive 300-yard games, with nine performances featuring 300+ yards and three or more touchdowns.
Expected to be selected first overall by the Tennessee Titans — their first first-round QB pick since Marcus Mariota in 2015 — Ward is poised for a massive professional leap. His Under Armour partnership underscores that rise, aligning him with iconic athletes like Newton, Stephen Curry, and Bryce Harper.
With his sights set on the NFL and his critics, Ward has made it clear that he’s not here to fit in. He’s here to stand out.
