During an interview with reporter Krysten Peek at the U19 USA Basketball trials, top-10 prospect Caleb Holt in the 2026 high school class opened up about his recent official visit to Ole Miss, new scholarship offers, and upcoming fall visits.

However, his discussion about Florida captured the most attention, particularly his admiration for Walter Clayton Jr.’s championship journey.

“Yeah, that Florida offer, I mean, they’re coming off a national championship. You see what Walter Clayton did for that team,” Holt explained, referencing the consensus All-American who averaged 18.3 points per game while leading the Gators to their first title since 2007.

Holt’s response revealed his championship mindset when asked about his conversation with Florida’s coaching staff.

“They asked me like, um, will I be willing to go there? I was like, shoot, I was winning a national title. Like, you know, how would I not like consider Florida? So, you know, I was talking to the coach and everything. It was pretty good.”

His shift to the dominant academy was prompted by his spectacular performance at the Adidas Eurocamp in Italy, where he was named the event’s MVP. He also won with Team 3SSB Select, scoring 19 points and taking six rebounds, three assists, and three steals in the final match.

The ranking of Holt’s recruitment profile has soared, and 247Sports ranks him as the fifth-best recruit in the 2026 class and the second-best shooting guard. His solid physical attributes and high competitive spirit are the same things that the successful Clayton had.

Analyst Adam Finkelstein quickly emphasized in a profile on 247Sports that Holt is “physically imposing on the perimeter because he’s strong and athletic with a consistently high motor.”

If the Gators continue the rise picked up under coach Todd Golden, Holt is the elite guard prospect who does more than just elevate the program’s success. In the wake of Clayton’s breakthrough performance, Holt’s recruitment is an indication that the winning program is becoming a pipeline for future talent.
