The 2025-26 college basketball season tipped off with unexpected drama on social media after a viral post claimed St. Bonaventure general manager and former ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski was ejected from the Bonnies’ opener against Bradley.
The alleged report, shared by an account posing as a college basketball reporter, described a supposed altercation with officials that led to Wojnarowski being “forcibly removed by security” during the Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Did Wojnarowski actually get removed from the game? Let’s debunk the viral rumor.
What Happened with Adrian Wojnarowski at the St. Bonaventure Game?
The rumor that Wojnarowski was ejected from the game between the Bonnies and the Braves took off pretty quickly on social media. However, it would soon be confirmed that none of it was true.
The account behind the claim had fewer than 1,000 followers and only one previous post before the weekend, yet it managed to dupe a surprising number of fans and outlets before being debunked. This so-called “credentialed men’s basketball reporter” was the only source to mention the alleged ejection.
By midday Monday, the fake report had already garnered hundreds of shares, serving as a fresh reminder of how quickly misinformation can spread in the college sports world.
Reporters and fans present in Rock Hill quickly debunked the post, sharing photos of Wojnarowski calmly seated behind the St. Bonaventure bench throughout the game.
Got multiple texts about this at half. Can confirm Woj is good😂

“Got multiple texts about this at half. Can confirm Woj is good,” one user who was at the game posted on X.
Field of 68 co-owner Jeff Goodman also confirmed to Front Office Sports that the report was entirely fabricated, stating, “No. Of course not. He’s been sitting behind their bench and hasn’t spoken a word to an official.”
The fake report was particularly strange given Wojnarowski’s reputation. Known for his composed demeanor and front-office role rather than sideline activity, the idea of him getting tossed from a college game made little sense from the start.
What is Wojnarowski’s Role at St. Bonaventure?
Adrian Wojnarowski’s ties to St. Bonaventure run deep. A 1991 graduate of the university’s Jandoli School of Communication, he has long been one of the program’s most visible supporters, helping fundraise for its athletic department and staying closely involved with the community.
After a celebrated seven-year run as ESPN’s Senior NBA Insider, Wojnarowski retired from the network in 2024 to return to his alma mater in a newly created role that reflects the modern realities of college sports.
Named St. Bonaventure’s first-ever general manager on September 18, 2024, Wojnarowski now works alongside head coach Mark Schmidt, handling responsibilities that stretch from NIL management and transfer-portal strategy to player development and alumni outreach. The position, increasingly common in college basketball, combines administrative leadership with program-building vision.
As Wojnarowski put it at his hiring, returning to the school that shaped him is “a thrill of a lifetime” and an opportunity to serve the next generation of Bonnies both on and off the court.
