Who Is the Longest-Tenured Head Coach?

Mike Tomlin wasn’t even old enough to run for President of the United States when the Pittsburgh Steelers hired the 34-year-old in 2007. Now, he sits at the apex of longest-tenured head coaches in the NFL. Tomlin is only the third head coach the Steelers have hired since 1969.

As a point of comparison, the Carolina Panthers have gone through three times as many head coaches in 26 fewer years. The head coach consistency in the Steelers organization is unparalleled.

Tomlin unseats the previous record holder, “The Hoodie” Bill Belichick. Belichick had led the New England Patriots since 2000 until he and the organization parted ways on January 11.
