Rookie New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough recently appeared on the “St. Brown Podcast” and was given a rather bizarre introduction. The pronunciation of Shough’s name was something many had to check in the buildup to the 2025 NFL Draft, with the spelling leaving some room for confusion.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown immediately sought to avoid any such uncertainty when, at the beginning the episode, he used an interesting technique for remembering.
Tyler Shough Gets Unorthodox Introduction From Amon-Ra St. Brown
Amon-Ra and his brother, Equanimeous St. Brown, hosted an episode of their podcast from the 2025 NFLPA Rookie Premiere. The three-day event brings together the NFL’s most marketable young players to meet with partners and brands for business and marketing opportunities.
Shough was among those rookies and spent some time with the brothers, answering questions about college, New Orleans, and his rookie contract. Amon-Ra kicked off the podcast by introducing their guest and quickly clarified how to pronounce his name for those who were unfamiliar.
“We’ve got a very, very special guest here, Tyler Shough,” Amon-Ra said. “If you don’t know how to pronounce his name, just think ‘f***’ and then just add S.H. in front.”
“Tyler Shough. If you don’t know how to pronounce his name, just think ‘F**k’ and then add Sh in front.”

St. Brown’s humorous explanation brought a smile from Shough, who spent seven years in college before finally getting drafted in April. The opening few seconds set the tone for the rest of the interview, with all three players casually lounging back in their chairs throughout.
Shough Reveals Excitement About Landing in New Orleans
Having spoken about his relaxed mood throughout the pre-draft process, Shough was then asked about being drafted by the Saints. The quarterback had nothing but good things to say, revealing that he’d been impressed when visiting the team.
“I loved it,” Shough said. “After visiting there, you’re gonna be happy wherever you go, but I was like, ‘Man, that would be a really good situation.’ Just with (Saints head coach) Kellen (Moore), Scott Tolzien, who’s the quarterbacks coach, Doug Nussmeier’s the OC, they all played quarterback in the NFL.
“They all speak the same language, they’ve been together with Dak Prescott, (Justin) Herbert, and Jalen Hurts… everywhere they’ve been, they’ve done really good s***,” Shough said.
Shough also has a clear path to the starting role in his rookie year. Veteran quarterback Derek Carr unexpectedly retired due to injury during the NFL offseason. Shough, who played for the Louisville Cardinals, will have to beat out second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler. But his second-round draft capital suggests he’ll be the favorite early on.
