The Baltimore Ravens have made bold moves this offseason, but a potential signing could take their championship aspirations to another level. Lamar Jackson has now gone public with his desire for one specific addition, and it’s someone he knows very well. The reigning MVP wants his former college teammate in purple and black, and he’s not hiding it.
Lamar Jackson’s Vocal Push for Ravens to Pursue Free Agent Jaire Alexander Sparks Buzz
During the first day of Baltimore’s mandatory minicamp, Jackson took a moment to directly call out to general manager Eric DeCosta in front of the media.

His plea was clear and confident: “Go get him, Eric! Love all our corners, don’t get me wrong, but go get him, Eric!” The message? The Ravens’ secondary may be strong, but bringing in two-time All-Pro Jaire Alexander would push it into elite, possibly historic, territory.
Jackson’s recruitment of Alexander didn’t end on the practice field. He confirmed he’d already reached out personally: “I hit ’em up, yeah, I hit ’em up. You don’t know. You never know with Jaire.” This reunion talk carries weight, not just because of their Louisville connection, but because of the larger implications for a Ravens team that has assembled one of the NFL’s most well-rounded squads.
Baltimore already drafted Georgia’s Malaki Starks with the 27th overall pick to pair with Kyle Hamilton. Add Jaire Alexander next to Marlon Humphrey, and the Ravens could be staring at a defense comparable to last season’s Philadelphia Eagles. The suggestion that such a defense could probably win a championship by itself isn’t just hyperbole. It reflects how stacked this unit would be with Alexander in the mix.
And the offense? Equally loaded. With Derrick Henry, DeAndre Hopkins, Mark Andrews, Isaiah Likely, and Zay Flowers, there’s no shortage of firepower around Jackson. This is why the expectations are rising. If Alexander signs, there will be fewer justifications left for Jackson not reaching the Super Bowl. As Wynston Wilcox of FanSided bluntly put it: “His excuses are running thin.”
Still, the Ravens aren’t the only suitors. Media figures like Kay Adams and Mike Pendleton have floated Alexander to NFC North rivals Minnesota and Chicago, respectively. Adams even called it “the funniest thing” if he joined the Vikings to face the Packers twice a year.
But Baltimore has the edge: a top-tier roster, a defensive culture, and a franchise quarterback lobbying for his former teammate. The message has been sent. Now, the question is whether the Ravens’ front office will answer Jackson’s call and make the move that could define their season.
