Kyle Pitts Virtually Nonexistent in Week 2: Should Fantasy Managers Be Concerned About the Falcons TE?

After a slow start to the 2024 NFL season, is it too early for fantasy managers to start to panic about Kyle Pitts?

    Published on

While the Atlanta Falcons pulled off an incredible comeback win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, tight end Kyle Pitts wasn’t very involved in the game plan tonight.

After recording just the fifth-most targets on the Falcons in their Week 2 win, is it too early for fantasy football managers to panic about Pitts?

    Kyle Pitts’ Early Season Struggles

Pitts finished Week 2 with just three catches for 20 yards, with more than half of them coming on the Falcons’ final drive of the game. Before that, Pitts had just two catches for 9 yards.

Pitts’ lack of production came in a game in which Cousins had 29 passing attempts, with only four of them going in his tight end’s direction. For the evening, Darnell Mooney (seven), Drake London (seven), Ray-Ray McCloud III (five), and Bijan Robinson (fivetwit) each had more targets than Pitts.

Given this is one of just two weeks into the NFL season so far, Pitts remains behind each of those pass catchers in targets for the season as well.

Through two weeks, Pitts has just six receptions for 46 yards, with his yardage total ranking 16th among tight ends. Pitts’ 7.7 yards per reception is even more worrisome, as it’s just 22nd-best at the position.

If there is one positive stat for Pitts so far, it’s that he has caught 85.7% of his targets, which trails only Robinson on the Falcons.

For the rest of the season however, fantasy managers are hoping that Cousins will develop more chemistry with his talented young tight end.

Pitts’ Fantasy Outlook for the Remainder of the 2024 Season

Unfortunately, you must continue on the path of starting Pitts this season.

He saved his Week 1 with a touchdown last week, and the Eagles’ defense worked this offseason to enhance its defensive backfield.

Should Pitts continue this trend into Week 3 and Week 4, we sound the alarm, bench Pitts, and find another tight end for our fantasy football team on the waiver wire for Pitts’ eventual replacement this season.
