The journey Kirk Cousins has traveled over the last few years has been nothing short of a whirlwind. After establishing himself as a franchise staple with the Minnesota Vikings, Cousins spent the last two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. Now, the 15-year veteran is moving on to his next chapter after signing with the Las Vegas Raiders this week.
What a Raiders Reunion Means for Kirk Cousins and Jalen Nailor
For his new organization, Cousins isn’t just walking into a room of strangers. He is reuniting with wide receiver Jalen Nailor, a former teammate from his time in Minnesota.
Nailor, who signed a three-year deal with Las Vegas earlier this offseason, is a player Cousins knows intimately. The quarterback’s arrival has already sparked conversation about a potential breakout for the young wideout.
Cousins joins a Raiders team that holds the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. While all signs point to the Raiders selecting Indiana standout Fernando Mendoza to be the future of the franchise, Cousins’ immediate role involves more than just mentorship. He is here to win now, and he believes Nailor is the primary key to that success.
“I’m really excited about Jalen [Nailor], because I was with him in Minnesota, and I could see his ability,” Cousins said during his introductory press conference. “When you have Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen, it’s hard to get the ball, but every time Jalen got opportunities, he showed what he could do.”
How Cousins and Nailor Are Building a New Foundation in Las Vegas
A sixth-round pick in 2022, Nailor carved out a niche as a reliable deep threat in Minnesota. He truly found his stride over the last two seasons, tallying 414 yards and 6 touchdowns in 2024, followed by a career-high 444 yards in 2025. His ability to perform despite the Vikings’ quarterback transition caught the Raiders’ attention, leading to his $35 million free-agent contract.
Cousins, a four-time Pro Bowler, sees even more ceiling for the Michigan State product. The veteran noted that Nailor’s familiarity with his timing and ball placement should accelerate the Raiders’ offensive chemistry during the offseason program.
“I’m excited to get on the grass with him, run routes on air, and really allow him to have a much bigger role,” Cousins said. “I think he’s capable of carrying a heavy load for this offense.”

If Nailor can fulfill the potential Cousins sees in him, the Raiders may have secured a foundational piece to pair with their incoming rookie quarterback. For now, the focus shifts to Henderson, where a veteran and a rising star look to recreate their Minnesota magic in Silver and Black.
