Which kickers are most intriguing in our 2022 fantasy rankings?

There are so many different elements that can impact kicker fantasy rankings. Additionally, scoring varies widely, with some leagues having negative points for missed kicks. So, knowing your personal scoring settings is crucial. Let’s take a look at three kickers who are intriguing for the 2022 NFL season.

Younghoe Koo | Falcons

Younghoe Koo had two fantastic seasons after arriving in Atlanta. He averaged more than 10 fantasy points per game across 2019 and 2020. However, along with the Falcons’ offense, he struggled in 2021. His field-goal attempts dropped below two per game, and he averaged fewer than two extra-point attempts per game for the first time in his career.

When your fantasy kicker loses volume, you are dependent on him making longer, higher-scoring field goals. That could be the case for Koo again in 2022 as the Falcons face another rebuilding year.

Nick Folk | Patriots

Nick Folk is coming off an incredible year in New England in which he averaged over nine fantasy points per game. The veteran kicker averaged over two field-goal attempts per game and just a touch under three extra-point attempts in 2021. Given the expectation of this offense entering the year, attempting nearly 50 extra points was somewhat of a surprise.

The departure of Josh McDaniels has raised concerns, and there are expectations we could see this offense struggle a bit. However, that could also push Folk up further above his 39 field-goal attempts from 2022. Folk is certainly an intriguing option in the 2022 kicker fantasy football rankings.

Ryan Succop | Buccaneers

Ryan Succop’s 2022 performance is a stark reminder that simply being on a high-powered offense does not guarantee success for a kicker. Succop finished as the RB14, despite connecting on 56 of 59 extra-point attempts. The problem is that Succop only had 30 field-goal attempts, converting 25 of them. He was simply not seeing enough field-goal attempts, especially long ones, with the Buccaneers’ offensive efficiency.
