Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson isn’t holding back when it comes to setting personal goals for the 2025 NFL season.
During an appearance on FS1’s “Speak,” he shared bold statistical targets only to be met with sharp criticism and laughter from analyst Keyshawn Johnson, sparking a heated exchange on air.
Johnson’s Lofty Goals Draw Public Skepticism from Keyshawn
Jaylon Johnson, who enters his sixth season at age 26, openly shared his expectations: “I just wrote my numbers down, too. I want to have seven interceptions and I want to have three forced fumble, I mean 10 turnovers. And last I want to have no touchdowns given up, no gains over 50 yards, first-team All-Pro, Pro Bowl again, that’s a given.”

But it was Johnson’s next statement that drew the most attention and mockery. “But I mean, just as far as numbers go, I want to get in the end zone three times for sure.”
Johnson has only recorded seven interceptions in his entire career and just one defensive touchdown. Looking to match or exceed those figures in a single season prompted a quick and sharp reaction from Keyshawn Johnson.
On the FS1 panel, Keyshawn couldn’t hold back his laughter. “Wait, hold on, man. Hold on. I’m laughing. I’m laughing. Did I hear you say seven INTs? So in the offseason, do you get hand surgery or something?”
Mocking Johnson’s hands, he added, “Yeah, and jug machine, all that. Don’t even worry about it. Because you know I know you can’t catch. So I don’t know how you’re going to get seven.”
The clip of this moment quickly circulated on social media, with the following tweet by Dov Kleiman:

While Keyshawn’s jab may have stung, Jaylon remains focused and motivated. His confidence is rooted in the Bears’ new defensive approach under coordinator Dennis Allen. “I think this year we’re going to have a true opportunity to challenge guys, get up in guys’ faces, and really limit offenses,” Johnson explained.
Allen’s defense is expected to be more aggressive, giving Jaylon the green light to travel with opposing teams’ top receivers, something not emphasized under former coach Matt Eberflus.
Though opinions may differ on whether Jaylon Johnson’s goals are realistic, one thing is clear: he’s aiming high and isn’t afraid to say it out loud even if it draws some brutal honesty in return.
