Keenan Allen has been in the NFL for quite some time, twelve years to be precise. However, like a family car that just won’t quit, Allen appears to have plenty of gas in the tank. That said, he is still surprisingly available on the free agent market.
That could be partly because the 33-year-old has been picky about the teams he would sign with, and now he has directly rejected one AFC playoff team.
Keenan Allen Has No Interest In Joining AFC Team Despite Liking Their QB
At the conclusion of the 2024 season, Allen mentioned that he wanted to either return to the Chicago Bears or head back to Los Angeles to play for either the Rams or Chargers. All three teams, however, have addressed their wide receiver needs, though the Chargers could still use some help for Tre Harris.
However, there are still a number of teams that could use a receiver like Allen, and one of them is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who recently signed four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. Streamer JGoofy asked Allen about the prospect of signing with the Steelers during a live stream, and the six-time Pro Bowler revealed he had no interest.
“There’s two sides to the story. [Aaron Rodgers] being the quarterback — of course that interests you. But Pittsburgh? No,” Allen said.
While no one can blame Allen for his lack of interest in signing with the Steelers due to the team’s offensive struggles in recent years, he, however, did keep a door open. “But hey, you never know,” he added at the end.
Allen played last season with the Bears after his 11-year tenure ended with the Chargers. He shared targets with DJ Moore and first-round pick Rome Odunze, recording the lowest yardage total of his career in any season where he played at least 10 games, though he still matched his career average with seven touchdowns.
Why hasn’t Keenan Allen signed yet? 🥲

Both his receptions per game and yards per game totals were the lowest marks of his career, and it was the first time Allen played 15 or more games in a season and failed to reach 800 receiving yards.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom, however, as the veteran receiver surpassed 11,000 career receiving yards and enters the 2025 season just 26 receptions shy of 1,000.
While the dip in production could be attributed to learning a new offense and adjusting to a rookie quarterback, Allen also turned 33 this offseason, making him the second-oldest wide receiver in the NFL behind Adam Thielen.
However, it’s also worth noting that he is just one season removed from a Pro Bowl season in which he posted 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns. He can still be a reliable receiver. But one thing is certain: Allen won’t get anything around the $20 million he earned last season.
