Jason Kelce, literally and figuratively, took the matter into his own hands to defend his brother, Travis Kelce, and his girlfriend, Taylor Swift. The former Philadelphia Eagles center smashed a fan’s phone in doing so.
Now, the retired football player is getting support from high places as Kansas City mayor Quinton Lucas backs him up.
Mayor Quinton Lucas Stands Up for Jason Kelce’s Act
The 36-year-old Kelce was in State College, Pennsylvania, to appear on ESPN’s “College GameDay” in the lead-up to the Nittany Lions’ matchup with the Ohio State Buckeyes. While the 2018 Super Bowl winner was walking around campus, one person started harassing him and using homophobic slurs for his brother.
In a video that has since gone viral, the person could be heard saying, “Kelce, how does it feel that your brother is a f***** for dating Taylor Swift?” Kelce did not say anything but responded by smashing the person’s phone on the ground.
After that, Kelce kept walking and could be heard finally speaking up. He said, “Who’s the f***** now?”
The mayor of Kansas City got on X (previously Twitter) to support the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s brother. “I shouldn’t say, but whatever. I appreciate Jason Kelce standing up for his family,” Lucas tweeted.

Kelce Has Tons of Supporters After the Viral Phone-Smashing Video
The seven-time Pro Bowler has received support from fans and other sports entities. College basketball analyst Doug Gottlieb, the new head coach for the University of Green Bay basketball team, also made his stance clear on Kelce.
Gottlieb took to X to air his views and support for the Kelce brothers.
“I’ve been in lots of crowds where people yell dumb stuff, but it is getting worse. Kid needs an a** whoopin, .@tkelcecanr because he has a huge career after his outstanding career,” he tweeted.
Political activist and swimmer Riley Gaines couldn’t help but declare support for the action of the former Eagles man as well. “I’m on Kelce’s side with this one. FAFO,” she tweeted.
