Jacobs Betting Trends and Stats

Last week, Josh Jacobs (nine carries, -2 rushing yards) became the first running back since DeShaun Foster in 2007 (nine carries, -5 rushing yards) to have nine or more rush attempts and finish with negative yards rushing.

Jacobs Best Bet

After Week 1 vs. the Broncos, Jacobs admitted that because of his absence from offseason workouts and all of the exhibition season due to a contract dispute with the Raiders, he needed to “knock off the rust.”

That was before he rushed for negative yards last week.

There simply isn’t a lot of reason to back Jacobs this week in any of his prop bets. Even if you subscribe to the theory that the former All-Pro running back will have a bounce-back game in his home opener, consider that when he played the Steelers last season, albeit in Pittsburgh, they held Jacobs to under 50 rushing yards total (44) and less than three yards a carry (2.9).

Yes, Jacobs led the league in rushing last season and was a first-team All-Pro selection. But in 28 rush attempts this season, his longest carry has been for seven yards.

There would be justification for taking the over on his longest rush of the day (15.5 yards), but I’m more inclined to take the end on Jacobs’ rushing yards total, especially with the odds they are providing for us.

Josh Jacobs Best Bet: Under 71.5 rushing yards (-105 at DraftKings)
