With four straight 4,000-yard passing seasons and a career-high 15 rushing touchdowns in 2023, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has established himself as arguably the league’s best quarterback and has become the No. 1 player in fantasy football.
But does that mean Allen should be the number one choice at quarterback for fantasy managers?
Here is the fantasy football outlook for Allen entering the 2024 season.
Josh Allen’s Fantasy Profile for the 2024 NFL Season
When it comes to which player is the top quarterback in fantasy football, these days, it’s really just Allen and Jalen Hurts in competition for that title. As a passer, you can basically write in 4,000 passing yards and 30 touchdown passes for Allen. And as a runner, his 15 rushing touchdowns last season were tied for the second-most in the NFL last season.
With 53 career rushing touchdowns, Allen has the most touchdown runs by a quarterback in the first six seasons of his career.

The question for this season is, how much talent have the Bills surrounded Allen with in 2024? Running back James Cook was solid as both a runner and receiver and tight end Dalton Kincaid is a prime candidate to elevate his game in Year 2.
On the other hand, the Bills’ wide receiver position is an interesting one. Allen’s best target last season, Stefon Diggs, is now with the Houston Texans, and the Bills responded by adding veteran Curtis Samuel.
Is Allen a Good Fantasy Pick?
Allen is QB1 in Pro Football Network’s Consensus Fantasy Football Rankings as of Aug. 23.
Allen’s 392.6 total fantasy points last season were the most among quarterbacks and second-most overall, behind only Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (403.2). In terms of per-game points, Allen ranked fourth in fantasy points per game last season (23.1).
When you have Allen as your quarterback in fantasy football, you pretty much know what you’re going to get each week. If you throw out his Week 1 clunker last season vs. the New York Jets, Allen compiled at least 20 fantasy points in 13 of his final 16 regular season games.

But now that we’ve established that Allen is the top quarterback in fantasy, the question becomes when should fantasy managers select him in their respective drafts?
In the Pro Football Network’s rankings, Allen is listed at No. 29, which means any pick of him in the first round is probably a little too soon. That said, there are probably many fantasy managers who do not want to pass up the almost guaranteed numbers Allen produces each week/season.
So, while you can probably wait a few rounds, taking Allen as early as the second round is hardly too soon for fantasy managers.
