Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers came up with a big win in Week 7. They defeated the Houston Texans 24-22 via a game-winning 45-yard field goal by Brandon McManus.
The Packers are now 5-2 on the season and are solidifying their case of being a Super Bowl contender this year. Love had another eventful game as he threw for 220 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions, completing 72.7% of his throws.
This was a hard-fought win for the Packers, and Love’s fiancée, Ronika Stone, shared a statement after the game.
Ronika Stone Sends Message After Jordan Love’s Win vs. Texans
“A win is a mf win,” Stone said via her Instagram account after Green Bay’s win against the Texans. The Packers trailed by 19-14 at halftime but were able to get the job done against a very good Texans team.
The Texans were 5-1 coming into this game, with their only loss coming against the Minnesota Vikings. They now have lost both games to NFC North teams but have an opportunity to bounce back next week against the Indianapolis Colts.
C.J. Stroud surprisingly had an off-game. He couldn’t get going at all. He finished the game with just 86 passing yards, completing only 47.6% of his throws. The Packers’ defense should be proud of its performance, as it limited the Texans to only three points in the second half.
Packers Are on a 3-Game Winning Streak
With a loss in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles and Love suffering a serious injury, many thought that the Packers were doomed. But the franchise has surprised everyone and is currently on a three-game winning streak.
Despite the turnovers, Love is playing exceptionally well; once he limits the interceptions, the sky is the limit for this team. In five games this season, Love has thrown for 1,351 yards, 15 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, completing 61.5% of his throws with a passer rating of 94.1.
Love signed a massive four-year, $220 million contract extension this offseason. There were doubts about whether his performance at the end of last season was a fluke, but the young quarterback has continued to play well this year and has proved that he is the franchise quarterback.
The Packers have games against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions before their bye week. They will be expected to win against the Jaguars, who were in England for the past two weeks.
Detroit defeated the undefeated Minnesota Vikings in Week 7, and they will prove to be a real test for the Packers. If Love leads his team to a win against the Lions in Week 9, his name will be brought up in MVP discussions, and he will have a legitimate shot of winning it.
Green Bay currently has the third-best record in the NFC, behind only the Vikings and Lions.
