Jets vs. Bills Prediction, Pick: Will Buffalo clinch the AFC East in Week 18?

With the Bills playing for something in Week 18 regarding the AFC playoff picture, here's our pick and prediction for their game vs. the Jets.

The New York Jets will face off against the Buffalo Bills in an AFC East matchup. The Jets are playing to evaluate their future, as they’ve been eliminated from the playoffs for quite some time. The Bills will clinch the AFC East with a win or New England Patriots tie or loss. This gives Buffalo more than enough incentive to play this weekend. Below are the NFL odds and our pick and prediction for the Jets vs. Bills game.

Devin Singletary’s emergence

Devin Singletary’s taken over a featured role in the Buffalo offense over the last few weeks. He’s playing the majority of the running back snaps with Zack Moss and Matt Breida taking a backseat. Singletary’s averaging 94.7 yards and 1.3 touchdowns on 21 touches per game over his last three games.

He’s a versatile running back that can contribute in multiple ways depending on the game script. The young running back ran for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns in an elite matchup against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 17. He could be in for a similar role against a weak New York run defense this weekend.

Jets vs. Bills betting trends

New York’s been one of the worst teams in the NFL against the spread (ATS) this season. They own a 6-10 ATS record, covering in only 37.5% of their games. The Jets are also failing to cover by an average of 4.3 points per game.

Buffalo, on the other hand, has found ATS success. They boast an 8-6-2 ATS record, covering in 57.1% of their games thus far. The Bills are beating the spread by an average of 3.4 points per game as well.

New York quietly leads the NFL in over percentage (62.5%) this season. They’re going over the game total by an average of 4.4 points per game. The Jets have also found the over in four of their last five games.

Buffalo’s been neutral, finding the over and under each 50% of the time. They have found the over in three of their last four games, though.

Jets vs. Bills prediction

This game shouldn’t be competitive. The Bills have the edge everywhere, and they’ll be playing at home. With that being said, the spread is well over 2 touchdowns.

Buffalo dominated New York in their first matchup, beating them 45-17. Yet, the Jets offense has been playing better recently, scoring 24+ points in three consecutive games. Rather than bet this wide of a spread, I’ll likely settle for the over, as Buffalo covered this number by themselves in the last game.

Keep in mind, the Bills won’t know whether they have to win or not, so it’s unlikely they bench their starters before they’re up by an unreasonably wide margin. We could get their starting offense for four quarters this weekend.

Jets vs. Bills Score Prediction: Bills 38, Jets 21
