From false promises to a sudden retool, the New York Jets went through a major shakeup over the past year. After losing Aaron Rodgers to a season-ending injury just four snaps into his debut, Year 2 didn’t go much better. The team managed just five wins despite all the preseason hype around a potential Super Bowl run.
With the front office needing to hit reset again, the Jets turned to Aaron Glenn as their new head coach and traded for quarterback Justin Fields to take over under center. It’s a bold move, but for the pairing to work, Fields will need more help — especially on offense. That’s why one analyst predicts the Jets will use their top draft pick to bring in a true blue-chip playmaker.

New York Jets Predicted to Select Tyler Warren in 2025 NFL Draft
Last season, the Jets finished 19th in PFSN’s Offense+ metric. That number could jump quickly with Fields now running the offense. He ranked 15th in the QB+ metric, while Rodgers, despite the small sample size, landed 21st.
Part of the problem last season was the overly conservative play-calling. The offense lacked creativity and big-play ability, especially after the loss of Rodgers. Free agency hasn’t brought much relief, either. Davante Adams isn’t on the roster, and tight end Tyler Conklin is also gone, leaving some serious holes in the pass-catching group.
Garrett Wilson is still the No. 1 option, but the receiving corps is thin beyond him. The tight end position took a massive hit with Conklin’s departure. Jeremy Ruckert was the only other tight end to see meaningful playing time, and he totaled just 105 yards all year.
The latest mock draft from PFSN has the Jets selecting Penn State tight end Tyler Warren with the No. 7 overall pick to give Fields the support he needs and unlock the playbook a bit more.
“The New York Jets need to commit every effort toward helping their new $40 million quarterback.”
According to analyst Reese Decker, Fields signed a two-year, $40 million deal with New York. If they want to get the version of Fields who led the Steelers to a 4-2 record in his six starts last year, they’ll need to invest in the offense.
“Tyler Warren is a blue-chip talent who excels in every facet of the game, a fearless competitor, a dominant run blocker, and a physical yet refined receiver with explosive run-after-the-catch ability. He is an immediate boost to the Jets’ new offense.”
In his final season at Penn State, Warren exploded with 1,233 receiving yards and added 218 rushing yards. He also scored 25 touchdowns during his college career, making him a constant red-zone threat. Warren could be the answer they’ve been looking for for a Jets offense that desperately needs an identity and a go-to option in the middle of the field.
