Aaron Rodgers’ hopes of taking the New York Jets to the playoffs are all but dashed now. After the firing of head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas, many expect a rebuild in New York.
However, there have been reports that Rodgers might not be a part of that rebuild. In an interview with Pat McAfee, the veteran quarterback did not make things clear, leaving the fans confused.
Jets Fans in State of Panic as Aaron Rodgers’ 2025 Plans Remain Unclear
On Tuesday, Rodgers made an appearance on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show.” He was asked about recent reports suggesting his exit from the Jets in 2025, in which Rodgers did not provide a definite answer. He did, however, point out that the reports were fabricated.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero took to X (formerly Twitter) to state his vague answer.
“Speaking on Pat McAfee Show, Aaron Rodgers isn’t saying if he’ll play in 2025 depending how he feels physically and mentally, among other factors. But if he does play, Rodgers says, his first choice is to do it with the Jets,” Pelissero tweeted.

Fans were understandably confused by this response, with them not knowing what the future of the franchise would look like.
“The media appears to be trying to drive Aaron to retire with all these lies. It’s nuts,” responded one fan.
“Listen all of y’all it’s a sabotage,” another person added.

“I’m sure Aaron will be very decisive with his decision and won’t drag it on for months,” replied one fan.
“Schrodingers QB, at least it’s dark in the box,” tweeted one fan.

Rodgers Opens Up on Firing of Joe Douglas
On ESPN, Rodgers highlighted that he was sad at the Jets’ decision to fire Douglas but wasn’t “fully surprised.”
“I spend a lot of time with Joe, a lot of conversations,” said Rodgers to McAfee. “He’s a f***ing great man. He’s a damn good general manager. I really enjoyed our conversations.
“I’m disappointed because I had a hand in it. I had an opportunity to play better and to keep him here. So, I feel bad about that, because he’s a great human,” added the 40-year-old QB.
