While he was the No. 2 pick in the 2025 draft, Travis Hunter was easily the most talked-about prospect coming out of college. The Jacksonville Jaguars require an overhaul on both offense and defense, and they may have found their solution by drafting one player. Hunter’s resume speaks for itself, with him looking to prove that he can be a two-way sensation on an NFL field.

Travis Hunter is the Top Jaguars Rookie to Watch
Jacksonville had two picks in the third, fourth, sixth, and seventh rounds. They were able to draft nine new players ahead of the 2025 season, coming off a disappointing 4-13 campaign. With Trevor Lawrence still under center, he now has a new weapon to utilize on offense, but that same weapon can also make a difference on the defensive side.
Last year, the Jaguars won games against the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots and beat the Tennessee Titans twice. While the two division wins are nice, none of them mean a lot as they come against teams that have struggled just as much as themselves.
On paper, the back half of the Jaguars’ schedule is in their favor. Three of their last five games are at home, and they include matchups against the Colts (twice), New York Jets, Denver Broncos, and they’ll finish the season by hosting the Titans.
While they’re stuck playing in Cincinnati and host the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football earlier in the year, Jacksonville should have no issue surpassing their win total from last season.

Coming out of Colorado, the main question mark behind Hunter’s game is how his two-way style will translate to the NFL. Being a top receiver in the league is hard enough, so how will the team manage his number of snaps to ensure he has fresh legs to play on both sides of the ball?
The Jaguars split their draft picks, excluding Hunter, choosing four offensive and four defensive players.
No matter how the team looks at it, they must improve on offense and defense. This is far from a complete team, but arguing that one player can help bring it all together is hard. Hunter’s gift was shown at college as the Heisman winner had 15 receiving touchdowns and four interceptions last year. With nearly 100 receptions and a total of 1,258 receiving yards, Hunter exploded with his best receiving season yet.
The preseason will be interesting, but Jaguars fans likely won’t get a look at what the team truly sees in Hunter until a few weeks have passed in the regular season. His number of tackles also increased from 2023 to 2024, improving by 16 in two years. With nine interceptions and 24 career receiving touchdowns, the Jaguars found a potentially game-changing player, depending on how they utilize him.
