Hello, Week 1.
The Miami Dolphins open the season Sunday against the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars in a game that could have significant implications four months from now.
Will Jalen Ramsey play? How many rookies will be active?
We break it all down in our Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Miami Dolphins inactives.
Who Are the Inactives for Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Miami Dolphins?
Ramsey was the biggest (and, in reality, only significant) unknown heading into Sunday’s game.
He returned to practice Friday — the same day it was announced he had agreed to a three-year contract extension that makes him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history — after missing the better part of a month with a hamstring injury.
“It’s tough because this is my first time ever having this type of injury,” Ramsey said. “I ain’t never had no hamstring, so even in times where I felt like I’m good, I had to just trust the training staff to know, ‘Eh, even if he feels like that, we can’t have him go crazy and reaggravate it or anything like that.’”
Ramsey said the new contract had been a done deal for a few days.
“Yeah, [the contract] got done a few days ago, but I just felt like it wasn’t right to have it out there and me not be out there on the field with the guys, so just tried to hold it for a few days.”
The Dolphins did not elevate a corner from the practice squad on Saturday, which certainly seemed to suggest optimism that he would play.
With Malik Washington (quad) out, they did elevate a wide receiver for Sunday’s game: Robbie Chosen.
The Jaguars, meanwhile, left home and ruled out safety Daniel Thomas, who had been questionable with an Achilles.
